What started as a two people becoming interested in watching court proceedings, Baltimore Courtwatch has now become an IRS recognized, tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization!
We started this project because the courtrooms that exist in the popular imagination, and the rights that people are told we have, do not in any meaningful way exist in real life. Our goal is to observe and report on what we see in the courtrooms so you can know too.
In order to grow and get our observations and data findings out to more people in more creative and effective ways, we have to utilize resources that cost money, like maintaining a website, owning the domain, coworking space for monthly meetings, ordering court transcripts, you know...all that administrative type stuff.
In the years to come, we hope to do more. We just need a solid foundation upon which to build.
